Bellissimo e raro esemplare originale di cinturone da ufficiale del "RAD" ( Reichsarbeitdienst) completo di fibbia circolare in alluminio modello 1938, del tipo utilizzato durante le parate.
Il cinturone in feltro pressato, rivestito di tessuto di alluminio con tre bande orizzontali marrone scuro, egualmente distanziate, è in condizioni perfette di conservazione. Il cinturone termina con una lingua di cuoio. La fibbia in alluminio è marcata sul retro con la famosa "A" che indica il fabbricante "F.W. Assmann", la sigla D.R.G.M. ( Deutsches Reich Gebrauchsmusterschutz - Modello Depositato ), e il numero "38" ad indicare l'anno di fabbricazione. Una fibbia identica è riprodotta a pagina 113 del volume "Third Reich Belt Buckles" di Bob Evans.
Le origini del RAD ( Reichsarbeitsdienst - Servizio Nazionale del Lavoro ) risalgono al 1929 con la formazione dellAAD ( Anhalt Arbeitsdienst ) e del FAD-B ( Freiwilling Arbeitsdienst - Bayern - Servizio Volontario del lavoro della Baviera ).
Nel 1933, poco dopo la nomina di Hitler a Cancelliere, il NSDAP riuniì queste ed altre organizzazioni simili nel NSAD ( Nazionalsozialist Arbeitsdienst - Servizio del Lavoro Nazionalsocialista ). Nel giugno del 1935 il NSAD venne rinominato RAD e dal luglio il servizio divenne obbligatorio per tutti i cittadin i tedeschi dai 19 ai 25 anni, per una durata di sei mesi. La stessa legge prevedeva che tutti i coscritti militari dovessero prestare servizio nel RAD per nove mesi. |

| Superb belt in aluminum brocade cloth with three horizontal brown lines (parallel stripes) equally spaced between bottom and top of the belt. The outer edges (top and bottom) of the belt are olive brown felt. The belt exterior is in excellent condition, with the two matching vertical brocade slide loops (each with alternating aluminum and narrow brown bands - three brown bands total). The buckle end loop has a stiff, double-layered tab on the reverse, made of olive brown pressed felt. The round, aluminum buckle has a superbly detailed RAD shovel, swastika and a wheat sprig wreath. The obverse is nicely toned in the deeply recessed areas, while the curved portions of the insignia still have a nice gleam at the right lighting angle. The flat portion is stamped with the distinctive "F.W. Assmann & Sohn" logo. Below this is "D.R.G.M." (Deutsches Reichs Gebrauchsmuster) and the number "38". At the other end of the belt is the rectangular frame keeper with belt hook catch. A very impressive example! |
